SADIE RIX
With her mesmerizing voice surrounded by rich guitar work, Sadie Rix takes the listener along for a ride over familiar terrain laced with innovation and comfort. Part guitar-grrrl, part folkie-blast from the past, Sadie embodies a new generation of singer/songwriters raised in a music world full of strong, solid female performers. It was classic music from the 60's-the timeless voice of Otis Redding, as well as hard rock, contemporary artists like Melissa Etheridge, Mazzy Star, and the Cure that shaped this gifted singer/songwriter.
Though Sadie grew up with choir classes and private training, her real musical education came from the undisputed Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. “Singing along with Aretha taught me to sing from my soul.” The first time she picked up a guitar, “I fell in love,” Sadie says. Now, she can't imagine life without it. “Writing, singing, driving long stretches of road- it's clearer than ever. Music is my path.” Sadie has performed with various artists, and at various venues across the Bay Area, Santa Cruz, Los Angeles, Mendocino, Humboldt County, and Austin, Tx. Sadie has performed at the Hayward Blues Festival, sang alongside Lydia Pense and Cold Blood, recorded with Wally Minko from the Greg Rollie Band, and has opened for such acts as Travis Meeks from Days of the New and Eric Martin from Mr. Big. She has also been on KOZT radio.
